LaSalle County Farm Bureau History

The LaSalle County Farm Bureau was started in 1914 and was known as the "Better Farming Association of LaSalle County" with 371 members to improve their production practices. In 1920 the name was officially changed to the LaSalle County Farm Bureau. Today, this voluntarily funded membership organization serves both rural and urban residents. While our history and purpose is deeply rooted in agriculture, we strive to serve the needs of our associate (non-farming) members as well.

Farm Bureau is the voice on county , state and national levels for farmers and others who have a vested interest in agriculture. It is the largest general farm organization with 6700 (1700 farming members with the balance made up of non farming associate members) members in LaSalle county and over 425,000 state wide along with over 5.5 million members through out the United States.

LaSalle County Farm Bureau's mission is as follows: "Representing agriculture and our member families through information and legislation to improve financial stability and quality of life."
